‘Push the Boat Out’ day at Southwold Sailing Club was a real success despite the 30 knot winds which blew for most of the day. Consequently, the only boat that went out was one of our new Laser 2000 club boats. This was sailed solo by our intrepid Pete Lock, basically because no-one else would go with him!

After capsizing a few times he eventually got off the slipway and proceeded to give a very seaman-like demonstration about how to sail a racing boat in high winds.

The day was attended by about 50 people who all enjoyed the delicious cream teas and many of whom became new members of the club.

The Commodore, Robin Watkins said that he was very pleased with the turn out for the event even though the wind was too high for us to take people out for taster sessions.
