As you know, we are following the best advice we can from the RYA and government, but for now Southwold Sailing Club remains closed for organised sailing.
The committee has produced a phased reopening plan. Please see the below updates for detail on the current status of the club and activities.
We will review this process again on 4 July, and we’ll be sending this out to members via email and posting it here, so please do check back soon.
Phased re-opening summary
Clubhouse
Due to the social distancing measures currently in place, the clubhouse will remain closed. From 8 June, toilets will be open for one member at a time, or groups from the same household in the case of children. A hand sanitiser dispenser will be placed at the downstairs door and a cleaning protocol will be in place by the end of the week.
Sailing
Following extensive risk assessments and reviews of operating procedures, organised sailing and training is unable to take place. The use of safety boats is not possible within the guidelines. Therefore general sailing is permitted at your own risk. We have produced some safety advice for independent sailing which can be viewed here.
Slipway
Following an inspection by the committee, the slipway has been deemed not fit for purpose in its current condition. We are planning the necessary repairs, but for now the club slipway is unfortunately closed until further notice. The town slipway is available to use.
Club Pontoon
The club pontoon is open and available for use in line with the current club pontoon policy.
